Le Tissier To Be Inducted Into Football's Hall Of Fame

Matthew Le Tissier is about to receive the National Football Museum's biggest accolade, according to media reports he is about to be inducted into it's hall of fame.

The National Museum Of Football is situated in Manchester and is now the country's biggest public archive of footballing memorabilia, so far Saints related stuff is in the minority in the museum, which moved into its current premises in Manchester from Preston fairly recently, although in its Southampton section it does include one of the cover;s of the old Paper edition of The Ugly Inside.

Each year only a small number of players and those who serve the game are inducted into the hall of fame, indeed Matt is joined only by another 9 names, this year that includes Mike Summerbee, Peter Schmeichel & Ray Wilkins

To quote from the Museum's own website

"The Hall aims to celebrate and highlight the achievements of the all-time top English footballing talents, as well as non-English players and managers who have become significant figures in the history of the English game.

New members are added each year at a special induction ceremony. Since 2002 events have taken place across the country, but from Autumn 2012 the ceremony will take place at the National Football Museum's Hall of Fame in Manchester.

To be considered for induction players must be either retired or, if their careers are still ongoing, at least 30 years of age. All inductees must also have played/managed for at least five years in England."

The man they call Le God will be inducted tonight and its a fitting reward for a player who gave so much to one club in his career and will always be a legend in the eyes of Saints supporters young and old.
