Tony is much more than a PST Foot-note

The work of Pompey Supporters' Trust's secretary has been praised as he decides to step down from the job.

Tony Foot has been a key figure from the launch of the PST but now feels it's time to hand the reins to someone else.

Dr Mark Farwell who was elected to our board in 2013, was unanimously voted in as our new Secretary at a board meeting this week, and starts in his role with immediate effect.

The PST board gave their 'sincere thanks' for all Tony had done as secretary.

Ashley Brown, Chairman of the PST, said: 'Tony worked tirelessly for the PST from day one and we are all very grateful for his efforts. Like us all, Tony worked as a volunteer for the PST but dedicated a huge amount of his time to our cause — much of which would have gone unnoticed to our members. Tony stepping down was entirely his own decision and we wish him well.'

Foot said: 'I am immensely proud of what Portsmouth Supporters Trust has achieved since the idea of its inception in August 2009 in Guimaraes and to have been invited to be a part of an epic journey - not the least of its achievements has been bringing together the various fans organisations into a coherent body, able to fight passionately to save this Football Club and purchase it and Fratton Park.

'Now is the time for the Trust to evolve into a more professional partner and to promote not only its ideals of fan ownership but also facilitate major investment in the Club. I have reached the end of what I can do in the role of secretary and I sincerely hope my successor will oversee the Trust in achieving the same progress in the next five years.

'I do commend to every Pompey fan to join the Trust. It only costs £5 a year and you will become part of the revolution that the Premier League has not even realised is happening (Swansea excepted).'
