For some reason the draw for the 3rd round of the FA Cup is being done on Monday evening but what would be the best tie for Saints ?
With the draw for the Rd round of the FA Cup taking place at 7pm on Monday evening I would usually be a bit miffed at this however with Saints about to take on Manchester Unexcited an hour later it will make for a good atmosphere in the pubs before the game.
But which team do Saints fans want to come out of the hat alongside ours ?
Most supporters will want us to draw the lowest ranked team at home, this makes sense and that would see us against one of the 8 non league teams left in the hat, only 5 are definitely through at the moment and another three face replays and that includes Aldershot who must travel to Rochdale.
Some Saints fans though would prefer a trip to one of the grounds that they haven't been to yet, that would mean being drawn against the likes of Southport, Gateshead, Dover and some of the League 1 teams like Bury and Accrington Stanley or even Oxford United who we are yet to meet in a competitive game at their newish home since leaving their old ground.
Personally I would like to visit Cambridge United, a ground I have yet to go to mainly due to the fact that Saints have never met Cambridge in any competition in their history.
A good run in the FA Cup would be another feather in our cap and proof that we continue to move forward as a club
