Pompey happy to be looking in an upward direction again

Oh dear. Someone just mentioned the 'p' word. Not promotion, well not quite, but the play-offs. Four games into an unbeaten run, too soon for some, Matt Tubbs has said that is where Pompey can still be aiming this season.

Tubbs will lead the line for the Blues at the Abbey Stadium as they aim to go a fifth game without losing and a fifth without conceding a goal.

Their run of two wins and two draws from their last four games has left Andy Awford's team 12 points behind seventh spot, the last place that would earn a play-off place. It's a smaller gap than it was, but it is still twice as large as the one between Pompey and 23rd place.

Tubbs is looking up not down and told the BBC: 'I think we've got to be ambitious. If you're looking over your shoulder then it's a negative thought straight away.

'There's no reason why we can't look upwards," he added. "We have to be positive, and we'll look to pick up points when and where we can.

'The last four games we've had four clean sheets, and that's fantastic for any team in any division. The front players and midfield players will always create chances at the other end, and it's down to the strikers - me included - to put them away.'

Josh Passley is set to be passed fit to play -good news as the start of the unbeaten run coincided with the 20-year-old wing-back's arrival on loan from Fulham - and Awford seems unlikely to make many, if any, changes from the side that beat Exeter 1-0 last week.
