LFW Pub Guide - The Green

The Green has been a popular haunt for QPR fans for many years, but its decision to ditch its Sky subscription seems to be costing it.

Name of pub: The Green

Location: On the corner of Wood Lane and Uxbridge Road, on the north west corner of Shepherds Bush Green.

Size: Not tiny, but not exactly huge either. Separate downstairs area that not many people seem to use.

Selection of beers? It’s part of the Barracuda chain so it’s the usual suspects.

Price of drinks? Marginally cheaper than the local indies, but still pricey.

How full does it get on a matchday? Always full, packed for the bigger games, sweltering on a warm day.

How fit are the bar staff? Usual faces, more Aussie blokes than anything else.

How long does it take to walk to the ground from there? Ten minutes.

Sky Sports/ESPN? Got rid of their Sky and ESPN halfway through last season, sending a good chunk of the regular custom scattering to nearby alternatives. Landlady promised it would be brought back if QPR were promoted but we shall see.

Suitable for away fans? Home fans only, season tickets and match tickets checked on the door by two blokes who speak English as a third language and where thick black coats and woolly black hates regardless of weather conditions.

Suitable for families and kids? Welcome, but it probably gets too busy on a matchday.

What's the smoking situation? Pavement.

Beer garden? No.

As far as pub toilets go, just how bad are these? Reasonable, but small and poorly ventilated. Like the rest of the pub they get uncomfortably hot on a warm day.

Does it serve food and is it any good? Yes, no.

Trendy modern bar, traditional pub or somewhere in between? Standard modern day chain pub.

In one sentence why should people visit/steer clear of this pub? Opens early these days, and it’s a decent spot to get something basic to eat and not pay through the nose for drinks. But since it got rid of Sky it doesn’t have many attractions to be honest.
