Pompey have a new attacking option at Notts

Pompey's attacking options will be boosted by the return to the squad of Gareth Evans for Saturday's clash at Notts County.

The midfield man has served the three-match ban imposed for his red card at Cambridge and is free to face the Magpies.

It's a welcome option for Paul Cook, who has seen his side score only two goals in the past three games.

The manager told The News: ‘You become a better player sometimes when you are out of the team and the team isn’t winning. Then again Gareth was withdrawn at half-time against Yeovil! But he is part of our squad and a good player.

‘He’s a threat, he penetrates, runs forward and scores goals, it’s something that sometimes our team has lacked at home. We have needed people who run past the ball, get into the box and score so of course we have missed him, but it’s the nature of the game.'

Pompey head to the East Midlands having won five of their seven games on the road but having been unable to repeat that form at home.

Their next test at Fratton comes in the shape of National League Premier mid-table side Macclesfield, who visit in the first round of the FA Cup on Saturday, November 7 - the BBC having decided against making it one of the ties they will show 'live highlights' from on Sunday 8.

Tickets go on general sale from 5pm on Friday, once season ticket holders have had a chance to claim their seats. Tickets can be bought online, by calling (023) 9277 8559 or in person from the Frogmore Road ticket office. The ticket office is open for phone and personal sales from Monday to Friday, between 10am and 5pm. Online purchases can be made at any time.

Seats will cost £12 for adults, £8 for seniors (61+), young persons (17-22) and special concessions and £4 for juniors (under 17).
