Devil is in the detail as Pompey seek home comfort

Pompey's home form will need to improve if they're to overcome Luton at Fratton Park on Monday afternoon.

The Hatters ended up well beaten by the Blues at Kenilworth Road just six weeks ago but Paul Cook's team have been much better on the road in recent weeks - as proved by a record of only one win in their last five on home soil.

Luton are in the pack of clubs hot on Pompey's heels and like the Blues dreaming of breaking into the top three and striker Noel Hunt, hoping for a third straight start after being named in the side at Newport and Yeovil, expects a stiff test.

Hunt told the club website: 'We know it’s going to be tough and I’m sure they’ll fancy their chances against us. But it’s all about what we do and making sure that our recovery is spot on after the match at Yeovil.

'We’ve got to keep applying pressure on ourselves as a team to make sure we pick up three points on Monday — that’s our only focus. We’re just looking to get the finer details right in the final third, but our spirit, passion and belief is only getting stronger.

Hunt said of Friday's fog-bound goalless draw with Yeovil: 'It was an interesting game — and a bit of a guessing game. We didn’t know who had the ball at times. At one point I thought it would be called off as I couldn’t see what was happening from the halfway line.

'The boys stuck together well on a difficult night and restricted Yeovil to very few chances. I thought we controlled the match.'

Hunt's place could be under threeat from Gary Roberts, if Cook chooses to end the playmaker's rest from the startling line-up. Also pushing for a recall to the starting team are Kyle Bennett, Conor Chaplin and Milan Lalkovic.

Fratton is set for one of its biggest crowds of the season - if not the biggest.
