Energy and commitment will get Pompey fans reacting

Pompey must give their fans something to make a noise about as Fleetwood visit Fratton Park - and not expect the crowd to act first.

The Blues have not won at home since the opening day victory over Rochdale and Kenny Jackett is keen for them to be on the front foot against the visitors from Lancashire.

He told the club website: 'We’ve had some purpose and energy about us in the past two games, although obviously there was frustration with the result on Tuesday. The enthusiasm of the players has been really high and that’s something I want us to retain ahead of Saturday’s match.

'It’s our responsibility to accept that we didn’t get anything at Northampton and do something about it against Fleetwood. They had a good campaign last season and I fully expect them to do the same again this time around.

'It’s a club that has done really well over the past few years and I’m sure they’ll be looking to attack that top six again. I saw them a number of times last season and we know there will be an established League One side coming at us.

'But our focus is once again on ourselves and we have to show plenty of energy and commitment in front of another big crowd. We certainly don’t take that for granted and we have to make sure we produce a performance on the pitch that they can react to.

'They want to see enthusiasm and quality football, so we’ll be looking to provide that. If so, I’m sure they will drive us on.'

Oliver Hawkins is fit again after missing the midweek defeat at Northampton with a head injury but Jackett is not expected to make too many changes from that line-up.
