Can Pompey put their Easter eggs in the play-off basket?

Pompey have W and W in their Easter fixture list - Walsall and Wigan. But will their results column have W and W at the end of it?

Six points from six may be a stretch - most fans would certainly settle for four, in fact three wouldn't be bad given the latter game is against the leaders who seem very much in form.

But if Pompey could build on their wins over Oldham and Oxford with a couple more three-point hauls, it would be difficult to stop the play-off talk getting out of control.

After Friday's L1 games, Pompey sit ninth - five points off sixth-placed Plymouth, who are level on points with out-of-form Scunthorpe in fifth.

Boss Kenny Jackett is looking forward to the Easter games, starting with a trip to Walsall on Saturday.

He told the Pompey website: 'We’ve been able to string a couple of wins together and it means the Easter period is a big one for us. I’m delighted that we’re very much in the mix for both fifth and sixth spot. It’s an opportunity we’ve got to capitalise on.

'It’s wide open at the moment and we’re pleased to say that we’re one of those sides who have a chance. We’ve always known that it’ll take a high level of wins — and consecutive wins — but we’re capable of doing that.

'When there’s momentum going there’s no better club to be at, so we have to use that to string together positive results.'

Jackett's selection options are boosted by the return to fitness of striker Oli Hawkins and midfielder Stuart O'Keefe. Not too many changes are expected from the line-up who started last Sunday's win over Oxford.
