Pompey skipper: Result was all that mattered against MK Dons

Tom Naylor admitted Pompey's tussle with MK Dons was frustrating to play in - but they wre just pleased to get another win under their belts.

The Blues had less than a third of the game's possession but still ran out 2-1 winners, courtesy of Naylor's early header from a corner and an Ellis Harrison penalty.

Skipper Naylor told the club website: 'It’s a great win and we knew at the start that it would be a high-possession game for them. They’ve been doing that all season and they are a hard side to play through, so it was tough, but we’ve got the three points in the end.

'I scored to make it 1-0 early doors and then unfortunately we gave the penalty away, but got one ourselves to retake the lead. There was a lot of movement from left to right and so you’re shuffling over to break play up as much as you can.

'It was frustrating out there at times, although the important thing is the result against a side who I believe are in a false position in the league. Credit to MK Dons and I’m sure they’ll do well this season, but we got the win and everyone was buzzing.

'That’s three on the bounce now and that creates confidence, which you’re going to need moving forward.'

Naylor would rather have scored in front of a stadium full of fans, adding: 'It would have been nice if the fans had been there to see it, but after scoring the own-goal last week, it was nice to get one at the right end.'
