That's enough home defeats for Pompey, thanks

Kenny Jackett knows Pompey need to improve their home form if they're to challenge for promotion - and this week is the perfect time to do it.

The Blues entertain Crewe on Saturday and Oxford on Tuesday night - with Kings Lynn visiting in the FA Cup next weekend.

Pompey have lost three at home already this season but Jackett wants to see his team make the most of home advantage in their next three.

He told the Pompey website: 'We try to set our standards very high — and they have been right up there in recent weeks. It’s been a bit disjointed lately because of injuries and international call-ups, but you have to come through that.

'Now we’re looking forward to a series of home games after doing a lot of travelling and want to capitalise on that advantage. Crewe have beaten Peterborough and Oxford in recent games and do look like a really good side, so we’ll respect the great work that David Artell has done.

'But we need to get our form at Fratton Park back in order, so we’re looking to be at our best on Saturday. You also have a good look at your opposition, but I’m more focused on making sure we’re cohesive and playing to our strengths.'

Jackett has welcomed a new rule in the Football League that will see teams allowed to make up to five substitutions.

He told the site: 'It will affect things a lot. When we went to extra-time at Ipswich in the FA Cup, the fourth change helped us get over the line. That can be the difference between winning 3-2 on that day or losing 3-2, so it can make a big impact.'
