Pompey are enjoying a week away from home at St George's Park - and it's as much about building bonds between players off the pitch as an understanding between them on it.
They're spending a few days at the nation's football HQ and Danny Cowley says it's an important week in the build-up to the season - in many ways.
He told the club website: 'It’s a great opportunity for us to keep building and for the players to spend some more time out on the grass. There will be double sessions all week and we can crank up the intensity and the physical load on the group.
'We’ve already got 70km into the players’ legs and it’s been a hard two weeks with a lot of physical demands. I’ve been pleased with some aspects of what I’ve seen so far, but we’ve also got a lot of work still to do.
'Going away also gives us time to bond, build relationships and understand each other. It’s another important step on the journey we’re just starting.'
They headed north after a 5-2 friendly win at Havant last Saturday.
