There are some really scathing comments on there…thats a club that is as high as it has ever been in its history. A really tough gig for whoever takes that on. Fans seem to be expecting qualifying for europe.
If Hornets beat winless Hunslet tomorrow it will mean both the towns professional teams are top of the league. I dont think that has happened ever in 118 years.
The only game we have failed to score in….lets hope we make them pay for that while putting an end to our midseason ‘slump’…two games without a win and conceded goals in three consecutive games. Hadn't done either all season. That really highlights how well we have been going until the recent games.
According to posts on the oldham rugby trl site they have hardly any players sponsored this season and they are suggesting it might have something to do with the newly appointed CEO increasing the cost of sponsoring a player by several hundred per cent.
The oldham (ex) chairman appears to have lost the plot completely.
We have ticked a lot of boxes this year….the one remaining box to tick is winning the BIG games which means York Scunthorpe and play off games if necessary.
It was a great day for the club and their fans and much needed funds for the coffers…just as when we got drawn to play Liverpool in the cup and got beat 7-0. In Hornets case it was part time players against finely tuned full time athletes and current world club champions. in those sort of games the score hardly matters. Enjoy it while you can and then back to the league games.
Just checked...the Castleford loss was 106 - 0 in 2007.
Bradford beat hornets 82-0 in 2019 so that rather pathetic drop goal on half time made this Hornets second largest defeat . Interesting that all three hammerings were at Spotland.
I think it was late 1950s when he played for dale. I think he might have played at spotland for barrow later in his career. I am not at home at present so cannot check my records.
