Pompey administrator Trevor Birch has admitted that he would he happy to continue negotiations with players over compromise deals in front of a third party and welcomed Kanu's willingness to negotiate, despite the player's blast at the man negotiating Pompey's sale.

Supporters' groups will be invited in to listen to talks between Birch and the club's high wage earners, including Kanu and Tal Ben Haim – who both spoke out over the way Birch has handled players demands so far.

Ben Haim was unhappy at how Birch “would rather make deals with the press rather than the players”, with Kanu adding that he was being treated as an “imbecile”.

However, Birch today told The News that is willing to re-open negotiations in front of supporters groups, including the club's potential buyers, the Portsmouth Supporters Trust.

Birch said: “‘It is encouraging to note that Kanu is willing to return to the negotiating table to discuss a compromise and demonstrate his support for the club. We have already sought details of his proposal.

“Hopefully, our message about the club’s survival prospects is beginning to sink in. We will continue to negotiate with the remaining players and trust none of them will wish to see the club liquidated.

“If Kanu, or indeed any other player, is unhappy with the negotiating stance taken then I am more than content for both parties to place the facts before representatives of supporters’ groups and let them judge how reasonable the proposals are.”
