The Nurse Consortium Take Control At Swansea

Home >Story Index> It's Official - The Nurse Consortium Is In

This follows weeks of negotiations between Petty and other interested parties and probably some that he made up along the way as well. Mel Nurse initially tried to win the club back from Petty through the courts but the decision favoured the Australian based Cockney and after constant fan pressure Petty has finally given in and rid himself of the club (or should that be the other way round)
A full statement is expected to be received from the Nurse consortium later on this evening and you will have details as soon as we do.
A press conference will be held at the Vetch Field tomorrow morning to reveal the people who will take their seats on the new board of Swansea City and rumours suggest that we will see a representative of the Supporter's Trust on that board as well as at least two other people.
This is now a time for consolidation of the football club. It has been run into the ground from years of mis-management, poor decisions and crazy salaries being paid to those in charge. This is something that the Nurse consortium will need to address as they try to haul the club back onto it's feet. It will be a long journey and one that we assume all the consortium have discussed many times before this day.
Swansea City has effectively been returned to the people of Swansea and now, more than ever, the club needs the support of the fans. I think it goes without saying that we can expect the Nurse consortium to deal with the things/people that we know should disappear (bye bye Mike, nice knowing you) and it is time for the fans to get behind them.
Kidderminster at home a week on Saturday. Let's get a big crowd there and celebrate the return of the club to the people. This is our football club and with the outsiders gone to wherever they came from we now have the opportunity to play our part in the survival of this club. It won't be easy and I urge all people to realise that, the consortium members are not multi millionaires and there is not a Sam Hammam bottomless pit of money available, but we can probably rest slightly easier knowing that the club is in the hands of those that care.
Everyone has played a part in the demise of Tony Petty. It was fan pressure that led to his downfall and we should be proud of the way we stood and fought (not only in the physical sense) for this football club of ours. There aren't too many clubs that would do that and this has possibly been the most effective fan campaign at any football club.
Swansea City has come home and now it is time to celebrate that fact and get behind Colin Addison and his team as well as the new owners.
