Colchester United are the new leaders of League One after Richard Garcia's late brace gave them a 2-1 win over Port Vale.

A huge crowd of over 4,300 at Layer Road had to wait until 16 minutes from time for Garcia to break the deadlock for The U's.

Michael Husbands looked to have earned The Valiants a point with a penalty five minutes later, but Garcia proved Colchester's hero when he struck the winner three minutes from the end.

Brentford won the battle of the promotion contenders at Griffin Park, as Martin Allen's side claimed a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town in a match that saw a player on each side sent off.

The Terriers then lost goalkeeper Paul Rachubka to a red card for a professional foul just after the break.

Barnsley moved into the play-off places after a 2-0 home success over Milton Keynes Dons, as Marc Richards (77) and Robert Hassell (79) claimed the win for The Tykes.

In the noon kick-off on Saturday, new Doncaster Rovers signing Graeme Lee scored late on in their 2-1 derby win at Scunthorpe United.
