Swans Make Brown Contract Offer

Brown Set For Liberty Move?

This morning's Western Mail reports that Swansea have made a move for Gillingham's Welsh international goalkeeper Jason Brown. Kenny Jackett is quoted as saying that he is waiting for Brown, who is out of contract at Gillingham, to make his decision but that he does seem keen on a move to The Liberty Stadium.

"We've made Jason an offer and hopefully we'll know one way or the other by the end of the week," Jackett told the Western Mail

"Jason's just made his senior Wales debut and the chance to play for a Welsh club (right under the nose of national boss John Toshack) is one attraction for him," said Jackett.

"But let me make it clear he'd be coming to Swansea to compete for a place. There's no promise of being the No 1 goalkeeper."

Bwon has been pretty much first choice at Gillingham for five years during which time he has made 126 starts for them.

Jackett was also pleased with his side's home draw in the Carling Cup

"Being drawn at home is the main thing," he said.

"And I'm pleased with the draw. In the previous two seasons we've had two tough away games at Queens Park Rangers and Reading in the first round of the competition.

"So this time we've got a better chance of progressing.

"But I have to say that promotion is the outstanding priority for us next season.

"I wouldn't say I'm less interested in the cup competitions, but the league has to be our over-riding priority for next season."
