Swansea City have been dealt a blow with the news that Alan Tate will be out for six months with a very painful sounding broken kneecap.
Tate has not played for two weeks since limping out of the win over Walsall in the Carling Cup on 14 August. Initially it was feared he was just to be out for a few days but that has now turned into much longer with the new diagnosis.
Speaking at the game against Reading, Tate said "I've tried to come back three times in training. I thought it was going to be a bruise but I've just got to carry on now.
"I carried on in training and probably made it worse but that's how I am, I know what it is now.
"Hopefully after the six weeks I'll have a few games in the reserves and then try and get back in the first team with the rest of the lads."
The absence of Tate is likely to increase the need to get a new central defender in at the club. Roberto himself added "You cannot keep Alan out of training or playing and he really had to stay out
"We knew there was something wrong and to be fair it could have been worse.
"Six weeks with Alan will be five so I'm looking forward to getting him back quickly."
Tate's injury is likely to see him miss 6 or 7 league games including trips to Leeds and current League leaders Leyton Orient.
