Swansea are reported to be interested in released Bristol City striker Darren Byfield

Last season's losing play off finalists are reported to have joined the two Championship clubs in enquiring for Byfield who was top scorer at Ashton Gate but was then released after their lost their own play off final.

Byfield scored 8 times for Bristol City last season as they out performed all their expectations in the Championship but clearly that was not enough to persuade Gary Johnson to renew his contract and teamtalk are currently linking the trio of clubs with a move for the striker who is 31.

From the Swans perspective they need a new striker with Darryl Duffy on the verge of a move to Bristol Rovers as we revealed on Tuesday and Byfield could well fit the bill that makes Martinez move.

And you would imagine that staying in the Championship would prove more attractive to the player although there is little doubt that Leeds would probably offer the highest wages of the trio.

Another rumour opens
