Swansea City are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper after Dorus De Vries signed for Wolves

De Vries gave up his place as first choice goalkeeper at Swansea City to fight for a place at Wolverhampton Wanderers where he will compete with Wayne Hennessey and Carl Ikeme.

Explaining his decision, he told the Western Mail "It was a difficult decision for to leave Swansea and did cause a few sleepness nights

"I had a great time at Swansea and a great relationship with all the guys there who I have worked with for the last four years.

"We were a very tight knit unit who linked up really well together so it was a really tough decision for me.

"Swansea is a great club throughout and have got a great squad and I wish them all the best.

"But sometimes as a professional player you have to get out of your comfort zone a little bit to be able to find your true potential.

"Wolves are going into a third season in the top division and as I've said to my family, the difference for me is that while Swansea will hope to maintain their Premier League status, Wolves will expect to survive.

"Swansea is a club which I'm sure can grow into the Premier League but at Wolves that experience is already there with most of the players having been in the league for at least two years.

"I'm really pleased and positive about the move.

"As soon as I got the call from Wolves I had a really good vibe about it and a positive feeling.

"I thought this would be the fresh step I need in terms of progressing.

"That's all I look for as a player - to progress every year on and off the pitch both as a goalkeeper and as a person.

"This is a totally different challenge for me.

"At Swansea I have been number one for a couple of years now having three great seasons and seeing the club go from League One up to the Premier League.

"We got promoted through the play-offs at Wembley which was a great experience but this is the next step for me.

"Wolves are a club with all the fundamentals in place to grow and expectations are higher than at Swansea at this moment in time."
