Saints fans got the home draw they wanted in the FA Cup

Saints fans must have felt that it was fated they would meet Pompey as the 5th round draw progressed today and neither side had been drawn from the hat, it then came down to two numbers and the only question was who would be at home.

For Saints it represents the chance to seek revenge on their nearest rivals whilst they languish in their darkest hour, for Pompey it gives them the chance to prove that they are still for the moment a Premiership club.

But there are several posing questions about whether Pompey will even be able to play the tie, the financial vultures are closing in fast on the Fratton club ant they firstly have to pay the wages next week and also negotiate a high court date with HMRC which could see them being wound up in the week before the game.

Obviously the latter is unlikely to happen and it could be they are able to play the game but could be in administration.

In short this is a tie that Saints fans will relish as we have nothing to lose and everything to gain, whilst for Pompey supporters they now have to endure the taunts of theirhated rivals and if they lose it will be unbearable.

Pompe alos have to put out a team, against Sunderland they couldnt even manage to put out the full seven substitutes allowed and if a few more jump ship and the transfer embargo is not lifted then they could be playing youth plaers at SMS.

Certainly the supporters of both sides will talk of nothing else in the next three weeks.
