Allardyce wants McCormack
Allardyce wants McCormack

Fast-fading West Hm boss Sam Allardyce has bid for Ross McCormack.

The newly appointed Leeds skipper could hold one of the quickest captaincies in our history if the Londoners are successful in their attempts to prise away the 27-year-old Glasweigan.

Having signed a new contract earlier this season, largely in the face of three bids from Middlesbrough, McCormack's stock soared as he bagged 18-goals making the £2m Boro offered look like chicken-feed.

And to think McCormack was set to sign for Palace for just £850,000 in the summer of 2012 but Leeds pulled out of the deal at the last minute.

With yet more turbulence hitting the second takeover of the club in just over a year, we could really do without a story linking the man who has been over-relied on this season to come up with the goods.

Selling McCormack in the last week of the transfer-window would raise the inevitable question, no matter how much we got who could we get to replace him at such short-notice?

Even if West Ham did offer a silly amount, say £6m, we would have to decide whether or not the short-term cash influx would represent good business over a late push for the increasingly slim looking play-off places?

Lets hope we are not faced with another last minute dud deal like 12 months ago when Luciano Becchio departed on the last day of "the window" lumbering us with Steve Morison, who was soon shown the door when Brian McDermott arrived!
