Mikele Leigertwood was the final signing of John Gregory's reign, for £900k from Sheffield United but has since become a very inconsistent member of the QPR side.

DOB - 12/11/82
Height - 6ft 2ins
Weight - 12st 3lbs
Contract - 2010

Leigertwood signed a three year deal with the R's on the final day of the August 2007 transfer window and can play in defence or midfield. He announced his arrival at QPR with spectacular long range strikes at Leicester and against Hull at Loftus Road.

The goals continued to flow at a rate not previously seen in his career, including spectacular goals against Stoke and Wolves, but his performances were massively inconsistent. At times he looked like the best midfielder in the division, at others he hardly looked like a midfielder at all. Still, come the end of 2007/08 with Luigi De Canio in charge Leigertwood was an important member of the team. That remained the case through 2008/09 however as with sseveral of his team mates the more regimented and defensive orientated set ups of first Iain Dowie and then Paulo Sousa restricted his effectiveness going forward and he only managed two goals during his second season at Loftus Road as opposed to five in his first.

His performances remained inconsistent and discipline proved to be a problem with eight yellows and one red card to his name.

Mikele came through the youth set up at Wimbledon and made 65 appearances for the Crazy Gang before moving on to land lords Crystal Palace in 2004. He was part of the Eagles side that were promoted via the play offs under Iain Dowie and played a season in the Premier League before joining newly promoted Sheff Utd for £600,000 in 2006. He was key figure in the Blades' side under Neil Warnock but wasn't rated by Bryan Robson (probably a compliment with his track record of player judgement) and he was allowed to move on.
