Young Italian right sided midfielder who signed for the R's in 2008 for £300,000 plus a friendly with his previous employers Chievo Verona.

Matteo Alberti was the first QPR signing of the 2008 summer transfer window, moving to Loftus Road for a fee in the region of £300,000 from Chievo Verona. Chievo won promotion back to Serie A in the 2007/08 season and the deal to bring Alberti to W12 included a friendly between the sides at Loftus Road in August 2008.

Alberti, a young right winger, hadn’t made a senior appearance in Italy before joining QPR but did enough to impress the Rangers scouts and was introduced to the supporters at the Player of the Year dinner in July. He allegedly chose QPR ahead of a host of clubs in his home land.

Alberti suffered from shin splints in the first half of the 2008/09 season but came into the team at Charlton on Boxing Day and he caught the eye of supporters with a brace of goals in a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest in January. Alberti has shown some promise, but has at other times looked lightweight and a little out of his depth in the Championship and has much to do to secure a regular place in Jim Magilton's team for 2009/10.
