Paul Cook warmed up for AFC Wimbeldon's visit to Fratton by saying only a settled line-up would bring the best out of Pompey.

The Blues have been hit by injuries of late and Cook has not been able to steady his selection as he was at the start of the campaign.

Pompey have taken only two points from the past three league games although have made FA Cup progess.

Cook told The News: 'I thought we were excellent at Notts County. After the Notts County game I enjoyed the trip back. When you’re creating chances like we were, then you know we will be alright.

'But when we play like we did against Macclesfield, we didn’t even pass to a person in the same coloured shirt — that would have been a start.

'I’m never confident of how we’re going to play, we never seem to have that balance. I feel the quicker that we have a balanced the team, the better. We’ve had so much change, we’ve never had that repetition of what we’re about.'

Matt Tubbs and Gary Roberts are each out for about four weeks. The Dons' visit will see a Fratton return for defender Paul Robinson.
