Dan's Report ! Mané Better off at Liverpool Than Southampton !
Monday, 27th Jun 2016 13:48

Our regular columnist Dan gives his opinion on the impending move to Liverpool for Sadio Mane.

Sadio Mané is having a medical at Liverpool today after a sum for the Senagalese winger was agreed between the two clubs. The fee is reported to be £34m and could rise to £36m, a sum of money arguably significantly higher than Mané’s worth.

Mané has been fantastic for Saints over two season but unfortunately rather inconsistent, especially this season. He went over 3 months without a goal and then scored eight in eight matches towards the end of the season.

Don’t get me wrong the guy’s talented and has been fantastic but I’m pleased with the club if they can be ruthless to get possibly £36m for him which I believe is quite over his worth, money that can be invested very well.

A week ago Wanyama went for only £11m when in my eyes he should’ve gone for 20m+. Now that Saints are demanding almost £40m for a player the transfer funds for our new manager could be the amount they should be after departures of two key players.

I wish Sadio luck at his new club even though it’s Liverpool, taking another one of our players but him being a big club like Liverpool’s most expensive signing means he’s going for a good price in the eyes of Southampton.

Snap their hands off! but get cash up front.
As to your headline banner Mane better off at Liverpoo yes by about £2.5m a year, but as always he'll be moving for footballing reasons.

34+ mill for Mane can't stop laughing good player on his day (not that many) but come on what a deal. Just hope all that money goes in to new players.

Another pile of steaming rubbish by Les' PR dept!

It's not the price tag! It's what Mane is worth to us scoring goals and freeing space for others. Liverpool, even if they just sit him on the bench the whole season, in one move has drastically weakened us-one of their nearest competitors.

Doesn't anyone think it is fishy that Les, with one exception, has been exclusively selling our top talent to only two teams?

As I have posted before, I swear, if Pompey had put in a bid for Matt, Nick and Dan would say "He can be replaced, he doesn't work hard in training, disappears for large parts of the game, only scores if he feels like it, and let's face it, he can't even get on the England team!"

P.S. Of course I am not saying Mane is in Matt's class! Just making my snarky point!

I try and tell it like it is, if I was a Liverpool supporter I would be wondering why we are making a 11 goal a season striker not far off our record signing ?

Mane is not worht £30 million for us that is a fact, five months without scoring a goal tells us that

We have progressed every season since The late ML bought us so thets not lose our faith now, a couple of decent signings and we will all be ok again. DONT LOSE FAITH

Nick maybe you are a LIverpool supporter! (only teasing, I do appreciate your work on this site):

I just looked up Mane's scoring (because I am work, and have nothing to do)

He scored 2 goals in a 3-2 win over the scouse and 1 in a 1-1 draw with them, that's +4 points for us and -6 for them a 10 swing on the table. If Mane hadn't played those games, the scouse would be in Champions League, where even the worst teams get 12 million.

This is all about them weakening us, if he went to a top 4 team that we can't catch in the standings, we would not be so irate- it wouldn't change our position in relation to them.
What team, in any sport gives their top players to their rivals?? Not to mention we are now the laughing stock of the league.

SELL SELL SELL that's the Southampton way they are so proud of.Well done to Leicester for holding off arsenal and keeping their prized asset that's real ambition we will never emulate them in a million years with our pathetic weak board sick of seeing premier league elite littered with Saints players who moved on.Never thought I would say it but preferred being in league one better off as a big fish in small pond
