It's a case of 'let's get physical' for Pompey

Pompey are expecting a physical test when they head to Barnet on Saturday on the back of two straight home wins.

Blues assistant boss Leam Richardson knows the Bees are a strong outfit but says they are one who can play a bit too.

But Richardson says Fratton spirits are high after back to back wins and clean sheets.

He told the club website: 'They (Barnet) are a very good team and I’ve seen them a couple of times recently. I was impressed with what I saw. Kevin Nugent has just gone in as manager and he’s someone who’s widely respected in the game.

'Barnet have got plenty of physicality around the pitch, but they also have good footballers. I’m expecting a good match all round. But as well as respecting their strengths, we have to isolate their weaknesses. That’s what we’ll try to do.'

Barnet take on Pompey having moved up to 11th spot with a 1-0 midweek win at Morecambe. But Richardson said Pompey must concentrate on their own strengths.

He told the website: 'It’s a case of so far, so good, but we’re just going to keep our heads down and look forward to the game at Barnet. We’re obviously very pleased with the results from the two matches and the clean sheets are just the icing on the cake.

'We also played very well at Wycombe before then and were unlucky to come away with nothing. But, particularly at this stage of the season, it’s a results business that we’re in and it’s pleasing that we’ve got positive ones in the past few days.'
