Pompey boss not afraid to state the obvious
Friday, 17th Mar 2017 08:03 by pompey-fans.com staff

After three straight wins, it's the message you'd expect from Pauk Cook - but it's one the Pompey boss is not afraid to issue.

Take things a game at a time, and don't go crowing about what you've done until you've actually done something.

The Blues head to Stevenage this weekend on the back of straight victories over Crawley, Colchester and Grimsby - but knowing their next hosts have promotion ambitions of their own.

Cook said: 'People speak about momentum and stats are available to everyone at the blink of an eye. But I just treat the games as individual events and it’s just about looking to the next one — it always has been and it always will be.

'I think Doncaster have sailed away now, while Plymouth and Pompey are in good positions and everyone else is chasing hard. I say it all the time and people will be bored of hearing it, but at the end of the season you get what you deserve.

'Our disappointment after the Crewe game was there for all to see and we’ve had a good couple of weeks since then. But we can’t say that we’ve had a good season yet and that’s what we all want to be able to say.'

The Blues are monitoring the fitness of Kyle Bennett and Kal Naismith, who both picked up knocks in Tuesday's thumping of Grimsby. Otherwise, Cook is not thought to have any other injury concerns.
