Pompey manage another super six
Tuesday, 11th Jul 2017 22:26 by pompey-fans.com staff

Pompey hit their opponents for six for the second time in four days as they continued their pre-season in clinical vein.

Kenny Jackett might have been a tad worried about his side conceding three at Poole, but the upside was another half a dozen going in at the other end.

Ben Close, Curtis Main and Nicke Kabamba each scored twice - but not before goals by Oli Balmer and Luke Burbidge had given Town an early two-goal lead in rainy Dorset.

Close set up Kabamba then the rejuvenated Milan Lalkovic teed up Close for the equaliser.

Main is another player who looks a new man in this fresh era and he fired Pompey ahead before Luke Roberts drew Poole level.

Close, Main and Kabamba all scored their second of the evening to make the win safe for the Blues, who will now go to Bognor on Saturday after calling off their visit to Eastleigh, planned for the same day, because of worries over the state of the National League side's pitch.

Pompey: Collins; Talbot, Whatmough, Widdrington, Haunstrup (Bedford 46); Lowe, Close (Hancott 77), Roberts, Lalkovic; Kabamba, Main. Subs not used: Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mayes.
