The Jackett factor brings new man to Pompey

New keeper Luke McGee revealed the Jackett factor was a big one in convincing him to swap Spurs for Pompey.

The 21-year-old has joined the Blues on a permanent deal - with many fans delighted Pompey will no longer have to rely on a stopper on loan.

He told the Pompey website Kenny Jackett's presence at Pompey swayed him and said: 'I was out on loan last season and first met Kenny when I went back to Spurs. We started talking and he liked what I was about, while I was interested in what he had to say.

'He did such a good job at Wolves and Millwall, so of course that becomes a factor. Everyone around him also has a great reputation.

'Eleven years (at one club) is a long time, so obviously I had to think about it, but it was the perfect time to move on and the perfect club to join.

'It was an easy decision for me in the end, though, and now I just can’t wait to get going. I’ve had a taste of League One, so hopefully I can come in, do well, keep us high up the table and help get the club back to where everyone wants to be.

'I worked with some outstanding keepers at Tottenham and you just try to take little bits from all of them. Now I want to expand my game here and improve in every aspect. Hopefully the fans will take kindly to me and I can pay them back.'
