One in, one out? There's a bit more to it than that at Fratton
Thursday, 31st Aug 2017 23:22 by pompey-fans.com staff

Phew! What a transfer deadline day that was for Pompey.

Never mind one in, one out - it was four in, four in as Kenny Jackett left it late to reshape his squad for the season ahead.

Arriving at Fratton on deadline day are:

* Dagenham & Redbridge striker Ollie Hawkins, 25, who has signed a three-year-contract for an undisclosed fee.

* Wing back Damien McCrory, who has been loaned from Burton Albion until January.

* Midfielder Stuart O'Keefe and winger Matty Kennedy, who have both arrived on season-long loans from Cardiff.

Leaving Fratton to make room in the squad for the new arrivals are:

* Nicke Kabamba, who has joined League Two side Colchester on loan until January only a few months after joining Pompey.

* Tom Davies, who has followed Michael Doyle to Coventry for an undisclosed fee.

* Michael Smith and Carl Baker, who have had their contracts terminated by mutual consent. Smith has joined Bury, while Baker is thought to be another possible contender for Coventry, who have been keen on him all summer.

One of the new boys, striker Hawkins, told the Pompey website: 'I’ve known that there’s been interest for the past couple of months, so I’ve had to remain fairly patient. I found out in the last 48 hours that the deal was going to get finalised and now I’m buzzing to join a massive club like Pompey.

'It gives you confidence when you hear that big clubs are after you and when someone like this comes along, it’s a no-brainer.'
