Never mind Northampton ... Charlton's more important
Thursday, 30th Nov 2017 22:58 by pompey-fans.com staff

Northampton may be visiting Fratton Park this Saturday but many are already more concerned with the trip to Charlton a week later.

The Cobblers visit in the Football League Trophy first knockout stage and a large crowd is not expected.

However the Blues will be backed by a 3000-strong army in the league at The Valley seven days later.

While some fans' thoughts are on the later game, the same could be said for some of the Pompey squad - who have been ruled out of the Northampton game but are likely to be available for Charlton.

Kenny Jackett told the Pompey website: 'Naismith, Pitman, Hawkins and Donohue – those four guys won’t make this Saturday’s match. But we’re hopeful that all of them will be fit and available for the league game at Charlton the following week.

'With the injuries we have currently I don’t think there are a lot of options for me with regards to changes. So it will be a full strength side of whoever is available – it won’t be too different from the Plymouth game last weekend.'
