Be free-flowing at Fratton please

A touch of Fratton flair is being demanded by Kenny Jackett as he sends his players out to try to continue fine home form which has brought plenty of wins if not an overdose of excitement.

The Blues have won their past four league games at home but scorelines of 1-0, 1-0, 1-0 and 2-1 have not set League One alight.

Jackett is delighted by results but is suggesting his team could be more of an attacking unit than they have been in recording those victories.

Looking ahead to Northampton's visit on Saturday, the manager told 'Constructive and free-flowing football has to be the aim and we need to work out how to do that. There are times when our forwards shy away from 1v1 situations and taking people on with pace – it’s an area where we feel we can improve.

'That can give us an edge and make us what we want to be – which is promotion contenders at the end of the season. But it can be tough to find a way to win and ultimately that’s the bottom line, so we have been pleased with results.

'It’s just about linking play better and attacking sides earlier to create more than we have done in the past few games.'
