New duo enthusiastic about Pompey moves

Pompey's two new loan signings have told of their keenness to get stuck into Fratton Park life.

Twenty-year-old defender Sylvain Deslandes and teenage midfield man Connor Ronan have become the Blues' first two recruits for this January window - and both are due to remain with the club until the end of the season.

Both told the club website of their excitement at their moves.

Deslandes said: 'My agent rang me a couple of days ago and told me about the enquiry and I just jumped into it. I know that Pompey are a big club in this league — one of the biggest — and the ambition they have is what I’m looking for.

'First team football is what I really need at the moment, so I’m delighted to be able to get a chance here. It’s not good enough just to train when you’re a young player because you also need to start playing games.

'This is a club with very good supporters and it is quite similar to Wolves in that sense, so I’m looking forward to playing. I’m really hungry to just take my chance, to learn and to get better. I want to reach the level where I want to be. So I’m thankful for the opportunity that I’ve been offered and will give everything I can for Portsmouth.'

Ronan said: 'There were talks going and then my agent told me I was coming down here, which is a big move for me. I haven’t played much football this season, so I’m looking forward to hopefully enjoying a run of games and getting back to what I do best.

'I like to get on the ball as much as possible, get at players, try shots and get goals and assists. There have been limited opportunities at Wolves so far, so I want to get in the team here, stay there and show everyone what I can do.

'Now I’m at Pompey I need to get settled as quickly as possible, so that I can just concentrate on playing football. I really like the ground because it’s an old-fashioned stadium and I can’t wait to start training with the boys and play in front of the fans here.'
