Blues play the numbers game at MK
Saturday, 10th Feb 2018 09:59 by pompey-fans.com staff

It seems to be all about the numbers for Pompey at MK Dons today.

There's much talk of 6,000 Blues fans who will be there in support - let's hope that doesn't go the way of the 10,000 who followed them to a game away to the real Wimbledon a couple of decades ago only for them to lose 2-1.

And the number 100 pops up for Matt Clarke as the defender notches up a century of Blues appearances.

Clarke says it is an honour to play that number of games for the club and hopes he can end it celebrating a win.

He told the Pompey website: 'When I came here on loan a few years ago that wasn’t really something I was thinking about. It’s a really big honour to play so many matches for such a big club, especially at a relatively young age.

'I’ve loved being involved in every one of those 99 previous games and hopefully we can get a positive result in the 100th. The support we’re getting at MK Dons is incredible, so it would be great if that could be rewarded with three points.

'A glance at the form shows we haven’t really been at it in our away fixtures this season, so we’re looking forward to that changing.'

Clarke is set to line up alongside a new defensive partner - Anton Walkes - with Adam May set for a return to midfield.
