Pompey won't head north - and why that could be good news
Thursday, 1st Mar 2018 23:12 by pompey-fans.com staff

Pompey have a blank weekend ahead of them after Saturday's visit to Bradford was ruled out by wintry weather.

The Blues will be far from alone in having to twiddle their thumbs, with a huge number of postponements likely across the country as snow and freezing temperatures strike.

A statement issued by Bradford City said on Thursday afternoon: 'The fixture has been postponed due to the current dangerous snowy and icy conditions in and around the stadium and the weather forecast between now and Saturday afternoon.'

A couple of other League One fixtures - namely games at Gillingham and Oxford - were also called off early.

A new date will need to be found for the trip to Valley Parade and it is likely to be a midweek April date, with little available before then.

The good news is it could be one less game for injured pair Brett Pitman and Gareth Evans to miss. The duo both limped out of Pompey's loss at Southend but could be back for the home clash with Gillingham on Saturday, March 10.
