Pompey need to forget Rochdale's lowly League Two position when they visit them on Saturday.

Kenny Jackett highlighted Dale's recent good results as he prepared his side for the trip to the north west.

Rochdale are 22nd and deep in relegation trouble but are better off than they were a few weeks ago - having recorded two wins and three draws in their last six games.

Jackett told the Pompey website: 'They have a genuine chance of getting out of the relegation places and have games in hand after a fantastic cup run. They enjoyed a fine win at Bury on Tuesday night and before that beat a very good Shrewsbury side, which not many sides have been able to do.

'So they’re in decent form and have a lot to play for themselves. We’ll have to respect that and understand how hard it’s going to be. There will be times when we’ll have to dig deep and work really hard, but it’s an opportunity we should relish.'

Pompey aren't in bad nick themselves - they have won four in a row - and are eyeing a play-off spot that looked a long way off a few weeks back.
