Pompey make their Plymouth point - and it could have been three

That will do nicely! Pompey claimed a point from their vital League One clash at Plymouth - and it was a game that if anyone was likely to nick, it was Kenny Jackett's men.

Late pressure twice almost brought Pompey the winner and when the final whistle it was surely Argyle who were happier to hear it after they managed only six shots at goal to Pompey's ten.

Jackett brought in Stuart O'Keefe in place of the injured Anton Walkes and in a scrappy first half neither side were able to impose themselves on proceedings, although Dion Donohue, Jamal Lowe and Brett Pitman all firing efforts goalwards.

Plymouth wanted a penalty but it was a laughable claim after Jack Whatmough's challenge on Ruben Lameiras.

Early in the second half Lowe found the side netting after a nice bit of skill bought him the space needed for a shot.

Argyle had their moments in attack but were not able to unduly worry Luke McGee.

Pompey had the best of the late chances. Whatmough's header was almost touched in by Lowe, then Lowe could not convert a Gareth Evans cross.

The same Pompey man had a shot cleared off the line in the final few minutes and Pompey then almost won it when Oscar Threlkeld headed against his own bar.

It will have been Pompey who could be happiest with their afternoon's work - but both sides remain well-placed to make the play-offs.
