Pre-season already in Pompey boss's thoughts
Monday, 7th May 2018 07:33 by staff

Pompey boss Kenny Jackett is already looking forward to pre-season after the Blues signed off his first season at the helm with a victory.

The 2-0 success over Peterborough, thanks to another two Brett Pitman goals, gave Fratton's fans an upbeat end to a good sewason which saw Pompey just miss out on the play-offs.

Jackett was pleased with the performance and result and says there is lots to look forward to next season.

He told the club website: 'The crowd came out in great numbers again and gave us their backing, so we wanted to impress and send them home with some optimism for next season. We played very well in the first half and could have scored even more goals to be over the hill and out of sight.

'You know with Peterborough that – even if they’re not playing well – they’ve got very good attacking players who can turn a game in a moment. But the second half just sort of petered out and we weren’t able to dominate the midfield like we had before the break.

'Overall, though, it was a deserved win and now we need to work hard over the summer so we’re ready to come back fighting for pre-season on June 27.'
