Pompey boss aims to get team out of sticky situation
Thursday, 18th Oct 2018 23:31 by pompey-fans.com staff

Kenny Jackett says things have been a bit sticky for Pompey in recent home games - and he wants that to change.

Draws against Shrewsbury and Wycombe were followed by a defeat to Gillingham, meaning the Blues have taken only one point from their past three at home.

In that same period Pompey have chalked up four straight wins on the road, which at least has stopped their home form from holding up their bid to stay top.

But now with Fleetwood and Burton visiting Fratton in the space of four days, Jackett wants the home form to improve.

He told www.portsmouthfc.co.uk: 'We’re not in a situation where we have major problems to solve, although we have to address the fact that we haven’t been as good as we could be at home.

'There have been a couple of real highs — with the Plymouth and Oxford games — but the past few matches at home have been a bit sticky.

'In terms of performance we want to be better than that, although this is a very good division full of top teams. I never feel that it’s going to be anything other than close and competitive for us, and we never underestimate the opposition.

'But this is an opportunity for us with two home games in quick succession and we’ve got plenty of optimism as we look to put on some top class displays.'
