Accrington have momentum - Pompey need to be on their guard
Friday, 26th Oct 2018 22:28 by pompey-fans.com staff

Kenny Jackett says there's no question of Pompey under-estimating Accrington.

The League One leaders visit fourth-placed Stanley knowing they will probably face one of their stiffest away tests of the season to date.

Jackett knows John Coleman's team are on a roll and told the Pompey website: 'We’re going up against a side with a lot of quality and who are in a good run of form themselves at the moment.

'So we’ll have to concentrate and work hard, making sure we’re at our very best if we want to get three points. They’ve got a lovely balance to their team and have some momentum after coming out of League Two.

'When you look at it like that and the fact they’ve got good players, then it’s not really a surprise to see them doing so well this season.'

Pompey's lead at the top of League One was trimmed to four points in midweek and it could be down to one if result don'r go their way this weekend.

Second-placed Peterborough visit Burton, who held the Blues in midweek, while Sunderland, a further point behind in third, host Southend.

Jackett is focused on Pompey's own points total at this stage rather than where they are in relation to other sides.

* Pompey's FA Cup tie at Maidenhead will be live on BT Sport with a 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday, November 10. It is one of four first round games selected for live coverage.
