Youngster frustrated - but knows he must just wait for Blues chance

He's struggling to get into Pompey's starting line-up this season - but Brandon Haunstrup is committed to continuing to work hard to get his next Fratton Park chance.

The youngster has been unable to force his way into the side, with Lee Brown nailing down the left-back spot and no place so far for an out-and-out left-sided player further forward.

Haunstrup told The News boss Kenny Jackett was keeping him in the loop though. He said: ‘It has been frustrating for me. Obviously I’ve been sitting on the bench and any lad that says they’re completely happy is lying — you want to be playing.

‘But the team is doing well at the moment and it’s my job to be ready when called upon. The gaffer has been good to me, to be fair. He’s been talking to me and making sure that I’m alright.

‘With my wrist injury, he was there for me. He’s said I am still around it and, to be fair, I have been having been on the bench for most of the season. Lee’s been good in a good team and the lads are doing well. When the gaffer needs me then I’ve got to be ready.’
