Clarke is Brighton-bound - but when and for what fee? Wednesday, 19th Jun 2019 23:09 by pompey-fans.com staff There seems little doubt Matt Clarke is Brighton-bound - it's just a question of when the deal is done and how much Pompey get for him. Reports say the 22-year-old has had a medical at the Amex and will seal his move as soon as the clubs have agreed a fee. There are various claims about what that fee might be but Pompey had indicated they wanted in the region of £5m for the centre-half who has been player of the season for the past two years. Some fear they will let him go for £3m or a little more - other reports suggest they might be holding out for £6m. A sell-on clause - like the one that will see them give a portion of the current fee to Ipswich - seems inevitable in the new deal. The Blues had hoped to land Oldham's George Edmundson as a potential replacement for Clarke, but he now looks set for a switch to Rangers. Pompey have also said they are under no pressure to sell other stars.
