Excitement replaces frustration for Blues ace
Wednesday, 2nd Oct 2019 10:50 by pompey-fans.com staff

Marcus Harness has told of his relief at getting back to fitness - and of his determination to help Pompey climb the table.

It's been a better start to the season for the former Burton winger than it has for Pompey as a whole, but his bright start was halted by an injury that led to him coming off at Blackpool.

He made his comeback as a second hald substitute at home to Bolton at the weekend and most observers felt he was key in sparking Pompey into life and securing a 1-0 win that came from Brett Pitman's 71st minute winner.

Harness told www.portsmouthfc.co.uk: 'It’s always frustrating when you’re not able to play, so of course it was nice to be out there again. I got a good 45 minutes to ease me back into things after being out for a little bit longer than we wanted.

'But I didn’t miss too many games and it certainly wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I’m just happy to be back. Hopefully I can now stay fit, look to push on with my performances and really help the team to climb the table.

'I joined a new club and had a good start, which took the pressure off. I’ve enjoyed my time here and am excited about what we can do.'

Harness is pushing for a start at Doncaster on Saturday, although whether Kenny Jackett will be able to accommodate him and Ryan Williams in the same team is open to debate.
