Pompey trio have chance of awards - but do they want them?
Wednesday, 5th Feb 2020 23:42 by pompey-fans.com staff

Those involved would gladly swap their nominations for points and wins, but three Pompey figures are up for monthly awards.

Kenny Jackett, Steve Seddon and Christian Burgess are all in line for recognition for their efforts during January.

Jackett has been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League One January Manager of the Month award, while Seddon has been nominated for the Player of the Month prize.

It was a month that featured one draw and seven wins for the Blues in all competitions.

Jackett is up against Doncaster’s Darren Moore, Sunderland’s Phil Parkinson and Rotherham’s Paul Warne for the managerial honour.

Seddon’s fellow nominees are Doncaster centre-back Tom Anderson, Sunderland midfielder Chris Maguire and Peterborough striker Ivan Toney.

The winners will be announced on Friday.

Burgess has been nominated for the PFA Bristol Street Motors League One Player of the Month award for January.

He has been shortlisted alongside Gillingham’s John Akinde, Rotherham’s Dan Barlaser, Sunderland’s Chris Maguire, Coventry’s Sam McCallum and Peterborough’s Ivan Toney.

Voting closes on Thursday. But given that plenty think these awards can be the kiss of death, perhaps it will no bad thing if they go elsewhere...
