Pompey boss gives verdict on whether League One season should continue

Kenny Jackett wants efforts to save the season to continue - regardless of whether the campaign could yet have a positive outcome for Pompey.
As talk grows that League One and Two clubs are ready to write off the 2019-20 season, the Pompey manager said finding a way to bring the season to its natural end still seemed the right thing to do.
He admits that won't be easy with the likelihood of significant gatherings being allowed in the near future remote.
Jackett told the club website: 'I would still want to continue the season if we found ourselves in a mid-table position. In that instance, I would want to work hard and view it as an opportunity to start strengthening and setting ourselves up for the following campaign.
'Our current motivation is being fourth in the table and two points off an automatic promotion spot, as well as having a Wembley cup final, so it is frustrating at the moment. But wherever we happened to be situated at this juncture, there does remain a point to continuing for me.
'I would want to get back and be working towards something the players and I ultimately enjoy – preparing for and playing football matches. For that to happen, though, we do have to take advice from the experts and make sure that it is safe before we return.
'I think it will start with small groups and, anyway, you limit the amount of contact in training in order to avoid injuries. The problems are going to come when you get to the actual games and that’s where you have an issue.'
