Kenny Jackett is prparing for new ways of coaching his players and getting them ready for match action.
The Pompey boss says they still do not know how things will work when players are allowed to return to training and then, in time, play matches. But what's for sure is things will be very different to the norm for a while.
Jackett told the Pompey website: 'Everyone wants to get back to what we consider ‘normal’ – and it’s no different in football. There is a greater good and a cause we have all been focusing on in recent times. It’s also been a period for reflection.
'We all miss it – whether that’s the players, the coaches or the fans. When it’s safe and right, we all want to come back. On the day of that first game, I don’t think anyone will need any motivation. It will be more a case of organising and offering direction and focus.
'’m not sure it will be a virtual team-talk and we’re still waiting to hear how it’s going to work in terms of being in a room together. I can see it being a case of everyone gathering loosely at the side of the pitch and keeping a form of social distancing.
'But when training starts up again and we can have group session, we’ll make sure the players know what’s needed. You can also speak to them on an individual basis if you’re feeling that they’re not sure about their roles.
'There certainly won’t be the kind of meetings there once were – certainly not at the start – so you have to be good enough to get the message across in different ways.”
