Pompey told: Use QPR defeat to make you more hungry to win
Wednesday, 1st Apr 2026 20:31 by Pompey-fans.com staff

John Mousinho does not want to see any of his players 'moping aorund' as they try to put the Loftus Road hammering behind them with a successful Easter.

The Blues have taken just one point from the past six games and the boss admits they need to start winning games to haul themselves away from trouble.

That aim begins at Norwich on Good Friday and then at home to Oxford on Easter Monday. And with those two games looming, there is mixed news on the injury front.

Mousinho told club media the QPR result was poor but was now in the past: 'There’s always going to be a bit of doom and gloom after a result like that and we’ve done our debrief. But we’ve put that to bed pretty quickly and have made sure the mood in the camp is positive ahead of these Easter fixtures.

'You can either mope around, feel sorry for yourself and let that define your season or use it to give you more hunger. We know we have to improve and have had a good training block, albeit without a few guys who are on international duty.

'Other than the QPR game, we’ve not been a million miles away in terms of performances, which have been pretty strong since January. But we can’t hide behind that and the fact is, with eight fixtures to go, we need to start winning football matches again.

'We’re still above the relegation zone with a game in hand and this squad have shown in the past that we are capable of stringing a few victories together. There are some huge contests coming up, although right now the only thing we’re focusing on is Norwich on Friday.'

Ebou Adams will miss Pompey’s Easter games and may not return until the clash with Leicester on April 18, but winger Keshi Anderson is back for the Norwich game.

Andre Dozzell may be on the bench on Monday, Thomas Waddingham could be back among striking options for the Middlesbrough game and Josh Knight is nearing full fitness.
