Five words from Mousinho that Pompey have to heed Sunday, 19th Apr 2026 19:49 by Pompey-fans.com staff The job isn't done yet. Five words from John Mousinho that should act as a warning to any Pompey fan thinking the job of ensuring the Blues stay up is done after the weekend's win over Leicester. Ibane Bowat's goal earned the three points and meant the Foxes could no longer overhaul Pompey's points total. But safery is not yet guaranteed - and there's the small matter of a visit to promoted-but-not-yet-champions Coventry to come on Tuesday night. If Pompey can stay at least seven points ahead of Oxford on Tuesday night - when the Kassam outfit host Wrexham - then safery is assured. Mousnho admitted the Leicester game was a poor spectacle but said the result was all that mattered. He told the Pompey website: 'It wasn’t a very good game of football, so apologies to everyone who was watching, although I don’t think our fans will mind too much. 'The most important thing is that we’ve taken all three points and sometimes you have to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. It wasn’t pretty and the start of the match didn’t help with a couple of injuries. That disrupted our rhythm and changed the way we played. Nothing much happened at all in the first half and it was a game of set-pieces, while there was only a little bit more after the break. 'It was about who could dominate the battle from a throw or land on a second ball and thankfully we managed to make the most of a key moment, while we did our defensive job very well indeed. 'The position we’re in now is great when you consider where we were a few weeks ago after that defeat at QPR. While it’s been great to have three successive wins for the first time this season, the job isn’t done yet and we have to follow that up on Tuesday at Coventry.' Pompey appear to have lost Terry Devlin and Keshi Anderson to hamstring injuries now but Ebou Adams made his return from the bench against Leicester and Josh Murphy was an unused sub - back before many expected.
