Jackett demands more force in attack from Pompey as vital week at home arrives

Kenny Jackett will be looking for more presence and enterprise from his team in attack when they look to get their promotion campaign back on track at home to Fleetwood and Accrington this week.

He was upset they didn't do enough going forward at Peterborough, where the home team were comfortable winners to nab three points which put them level with Jackett's men in the race for a promotion or play-off spot.

Dan Butler and Ivan Toney scored a goal in each half to clinch the win for Posh and Jackett told the Pompey website: 'They edged both halves and while we had a lot of pressure in the second half, we didn’t do enough going forward. We all know about their attacking threats and Toney looked a very good centre-forward, scoring a crucial second goal.

'That took the game away from us, but the real disappointment for me was that we never really got going in an attacking sense. We couldn’t find those shots or do enough to work their keeper — they were able to look after us defensively and really limit us.

'Our combination play wasn’t quite right and we weren’t able to get quality balls into the box to hurt the opposition.

'Credit to Peterborough because they worked our keeper more than we worked their one and that’s got them the win.' Pompey: Bass; Bolton, Whatmough (McCrorie 46), Raggett, Seddon; Naylor; Williams, McGeehan (Hawkins 69), Close (Cannon 55), Curtis; Marquis. Subs not used: MacGillivray, Brown, Harness, Pitman

Attendance: 9,414 (2,197 Pompey fans)
